5 tips to save enough money to take a grown up gap year!
1. Set your target 💰 (minus anything that you already have saved). This is always one of the most fun parts of any trip! Plan where you want to go and for how long. 6 months in Europe or 3 months in Asia or 12 months in Australia, all of these need very different budgets, so do your research and set your target.
2. Decide how many months you have to save 🗓 and then divide step one by step two. This is then your monthly saving goal.
3. Reflect on your daily habits. ☕️ Do you have any subscriptions that you don’t need? Do you really need all those impulse purchases or that Hot Chocolate everyday (and some answers might be yes!) But get clear with your finances, you need to know what you have, what you spend to understand how much you can save.
4. Decide how much you can realistically save. 💾 Be honest with yourself, what can you honestly save each month, too much or too little, only you truly know your limit. If you don’t think you will meet your goal, look at the changes that you could make or give yourself longer to reach your goal. But remember what your goal is. What is the bigger picture?
5. Stick to your goal! 🔐I cannot stress this part enough, your future self will thank you! Now you have the steps, action is what needed. Without action the plan won’t get you to that mountain, beach or travel goal.
Good Luck and enjoy!
